I watched a video on YouTube a few minutes ago. A very large man spoke about how important leadership is to your network marketing success. His holey ACDC t-shirt almost covered his navel, and he looked like he hadn't shaved in days. Then, just as I was about to stop the video, he broke into this dance. I called my wife into the room, and we laughed until we almost cried. My face still hurts. His video, while entertaining, was not very informative. I can't even tell you the gist of what he was trying to say. He had personality, though, and lots of it. By contrast, I've seen many videos that literally caused my eyes to close. People whose personalities were so dry, their voices so monotonous, I can just think about those videos and get sleepy. Does making a video really have to be such a chore? My answer: No it does not. In fact, if making your video is a chore, it will definitely come through in the final product. It will be something people will not sit through. As information-packed as your video might be, if you don't present it in an interesting way, nobody's going to want to hear it. Now, I'm not saying you have to dance a jig or do a Chris Rock impersonation to be interesting. Just show a sense of humor here and there, and try not to be a robot. Also, your look says a lot about you. At the very least, wear something decent. Wear what you would to a job interview. Network marketing is all about leadership, so look like a leader. Your clothes also say a lot about your confidence. Leaders are confident, achieving individuals. Not lazy slobs in Hawaiian shirts lounging in a hammock. Your gaze should be on the camera at all times. You want to come off as straightforward, no nonsense, and driven, not as a shifty-eyed salesman type. Know what you're going to say before you turn the camera on. Do as many takes as necessary to get your point across. You want to be in the moment, not thinking about what your next line will be. This one shouldn't need to be said, but the more videos I see, the more I realize it does need to be said. Your video should be informative, not a sales pitch. You should be trying to solve someone's problem. If you're not, you have no business making a video in the first place. Lastly, you've got to show some excitement. If you're not enthusiastic about what you're saying, how do you expect your viewers to be? Really think about your words and what they mean, and how implementing the actions you're talking about will change your life, and those lives of your viewers. Keep your videos short, between 4 and 6 minutes, post regularly, and you should attract a good deal of attention.
