Currently, there are numerous types of massages such as medical massage, sports massage, lomi lomi massage, infant massage, and reflexology massage, to name only but a few. In the United States, various states observe varied regulations as to the people who can qualify of becoming a licensed massage therapist. Some might probably ask why an individual needs to go through hours of massage education just to become a professional therapist when what they do seem simple enough as applying pressure on the areas of the body that seem to need attention. But truly, it is not that simple. A professional therapist must first and foremost familiarize himself of the human anatomy. The human body is a complex form that is composed of an elaborate weaving and placement of nerves, muscles, organs, and all the other essential components. That is why it is no simple matter when a massage therapist is working on a patient, whether it is to simply loosen tight muscles or to help a patient recover from an injury. Thus, the training programs for massage therapy may include lectures on anatomy, physiology, pathology to name only a few, on top of the theoretical discussions and practical applications of the various massage techniques. When you decide to pursue massage therapy, you will then be equipped with sufficient knowledge on how to treat certain illnesses. Thus, massage education can indeed help you live a life free of pain.
