Appear as a Guest on Talk Radio Shows

In the corporate world, marketings function is to generate sales leads and build awareness of the companys product or service. What is shocking is that these marketing departments overlook the power of pr. What happens instead is lots of money is spent in advertising. You can save quite a bit of money if you use public relations through appearing as a guest on a talk radio show.

This is an excellent way for companies to gain excellent local and national consumer exposure. No matter if you are a local or national company - talk radio will get you fantastic local or national attention for your business.

Do as many as you can , says Friedman. There are so many pros to talk radio that I want to share with you. So lets have Friedman educate us as to why being a guest on talk radio is such a PR goldmine:

1. Attractive Target Audience and Demographics. On AM radio listeners are 55% male and 45% female with many of them college educated or with at least a high school diploma , says Friedman . In addition to strong demographics there are also specialty talk shows that focus on finance, law, politics, health, relationships, lifestyles, consumer advocacy, sports, gardening and more so you can easily identify shows whose listeners are a match for your business .

2. It Wont Break the Bank. Talk radio shows are no longer strictly done in studio. Friedman says, Almost all interviews on talk radio are held by phone so you wont have to jump on a plane in order to be interviewed in-studio. You dont have to leave your home or office to do an interview so you can easily integrate these interviews into your work schedule.

3. A Fantastic Tool for Sales. Although PR is definitely not paid advertising, if you get good coverage, it can prove to be even better . On talk radio, the majority of interviews are live, so its like having a conversation with hundreds, thousands or even tens of thousands of people while on one phone call, says Friedman . If you give a great informative interview, you can get your message across to consumers without them even knowing it! Listeners will want to know how to get whatever the guest is talking about. And most hosts will freely mention your website address or toll free number for you so you dont sound like an infomercial.

4. Third Party Endorsement. As you can imagine, talk radio shows have loyal followings in order to maintain their terrific ratings. Listeners make sure to listen every time their favorite show or host is on to get all of the latest news and information.

Friedman says, Talk radio hosts are viewed as old friends by their dedicated listening base As that host is often thought of as an old friend or trusted adviser, when you appear as a guest on their show, so when you appear as a guest on the show, you get a fantastic endorsement almost instantly. Credible by association if you will.

5. Credibility. If you are looking for a bit of credibility look no further than talk radio. Friedman says, One of my PR firms clients told us, when I have appeared on talk radio - the host tells his listeners about my great expertise, my many accomplishments and how excited they are to have me as a guest! Of course, the more important I am as a guest, the more important the host appears to be. Talk radio is a total goldmine for public relations. Now that is some great PR!

6. You Are Able to Tell Your Entire Story. As you know, advertising has a very definite time and space limit. The great thing about talk radio is that many times you will have up to 30 minutes of times, if not more, to educate the audience about your message. says Friedman . These reasons to be interviewed on talk radio should illustrate just how valuable this medium can be to the success of your business.
